The Lawrence Music Alliance, in collaboration with Kansas Creative Arts and Industries Commission, the City of Lawrence and Sound Music Cities, is excited to announce the commencement of a community-driven data gathering initiative aimed at better understanding the needs of the local music ecosystem.

The Census launched on March 1st online at www.lawrencemusiccensus.org. The primary objective is to gain a comprehensive insight into the current requirements of Lawrence's music community. This marks a significant milestone as it will be the City's first time having data specifically tailored to advocate for the local music scene and formulate policy solutions and approaches.

The Census gathered information from a diverse range of local music professionals and analyze the results to establish a new baseline of data for individuals in the music industry residing and working in Lawrence. This inclusive approach encompasses musicians, venue owners, nonprofits, and various music business professionals.
